Latest Knife
This is the latest stone knife of two-toned novaculite with an elk antler handle. Slowly, but surely I am dusting off my primitive skills endeavors. Hit the woods last weekend to check it out and do some gathering of odds and ends.
I broke a good number of blades when I was learning to knap longer ones. You've really got to have good support of the full length and a good sense of how much force you can apply with percussion.
I've been interested in primitive skills ever since I read Larry Dean Olsen's book, Outdoor Survival Skills, decades ago. The past 25 years, or so, I have been striving to learn the skills...flintkapping, hide working, friction fires, edible & medicinal plants, etc. Having gained some proficiency, I have been demonstrating and teaching at historical events and gatherings. It is a never ending journey.

Nice knife. I love the colour of that blade.
Nice to see you keep at it.
That is a truly beautiful knife. I keep breaking mine, but I am still learning.
